I agree 100% with all. I'll keep an eye on that in the future. I don't keep up on RPiOS like iOS and that's on me. I'll claim ignorance on this, as I didn't know there had been that many new releases.
A five year old guide that is the sole post by its author. not a guide I would have put any faith into.
It wasn’t 5 years old when I used it. It’s been a few years (maybe four) since I did the original setup and it worked just fine. It still works on that one and I’ve updated it regularly, but just the basic package updates.
The problem with using a guide that old is that there have been at least two major OS releases since it was written. With at least the most recent one some major changes were made that invalidated that guide on some hardware (any Pi running RPiOS with 2GB or mroe RAM)I haven’t updated the OS. It doesn’t have to do anything wild, just run my localhost site,
I think I got directed to it from an Instructables I perused. Anyways, not really relevant, but figured I’d explain. I didn’t even look at the amount of posts, just gave it a go and it worked. Cheers.
I mentioned that for a couple of reasons: with just one post we have nothing to judge the posters experience level or whether they can be trusted, and secondly because it's a good indicator that they've made no effort to keep things in step with OS updates.
Thanks again.
