Wanted • Re: Suitable monitor

This leads to another question, namely what is the difference between a Flat Screen TV and Computer Monitor.
I am assuming they will both have LED/Plasma screens, HDMI inputs and a TV will have a Tuner (Satellite and RF) input. So can a TV be used as a computer (or more specifically) a Raspberry Pi 5 monitor or are there additional features I need to look for when using a TV to act as a monitor.
Any modern flat-panel TV is GUARANTEED to have a stereo audio amplifier, speakers and 3.5mm headphone socket* built-in, working from the HDMI input.
A computer monitor may NOT.

A computer monitor MIGHT have a better image spec for gaming etc., but only marginally, and this screen is "only" to get your grandson going quickly, not to give the ultimate image quality - which will require research and cost more.

A TV has an RF tuner, as you say, which is itself possibly a plus too, if an aerial is available?

Such TVs are also available in charity shops (more often than "real" PC monitors I think) and should only cost say £20 to £50? Try to ensure it still has its remote control.

* The Pi5 does not have any 3.5mm analogue audio output socket otherwise.
