Beginners • Unable to flash and use PICO on Mac

Hi all,
I just got a Waveshare RP2040-zero and I'm unable to use it with Macos Sonoma 14.5.
I've read all the tuttorials on how to, including holding the "bootsel" button, using Arduino IDE, installing Raspberry Pi Pico boards, etc etc.
Still I don't get:
1. A new mass storage device window to drag .uf2 code to
2. No port to upload sketch when using Arduino IDE

In one tuttorial I read that I have to solder 2 pads together on the board ??
