I guess you're right: the output gives me 'arm64'. And the dpkg manpage litteraly says:There's a few ways to check. The one I use, which uses the package manager iswhich will show armhf or arm64.Code:
dpkg --print-architecture
--print-architecture: Print architecture of packages dpkg installs (for example, "i386").
I checked manpage because print-architecture could also have referred to hardware architecture, not software architecture.
But then it looks like I cannot install 32 bit software on my 64 bit RPi. At least not without tweaking Aptitude. Am I right?
(FYI: I have a 25 year Wintel (Windows-on-Intel) experience and there I still used to run 32 bit programs (even some 16 bit under DOSbox) under W10 64 bit and I was even able to install W10 32 bit on my new PC's if I had wanted to)
