General discussion • Re: Alternative Watt PSU PI5

Pretty sure even Pi4 PSUs aren't even available in country, there is a huge lack of supply and high demand here in New Zealand probably was unexpected considering we're an island at the bottom of the planet, in the middle of well nowhere.
Pretty sure, or just didn't look?

Neither, I was looking at the wrong device.. while your advice is applicable to the problem it doesn't actually the answer the issue of getting the board 'properly' powered (as a stop gap useful) but in the long term even when I do have to proper one I'd still be asking the same question just in a different format e.g.. how to I replace this thing with something equal if it the official one breaks, or is my conspiratorial mind correct that they only want this powered by their proprietary psu device?
Maybe there is a shortage because people are buying two in order to have a backup when they only need one. It was also mentioned on this forum they make good mobile phone chargers since they can also output higher voltage.

Someone will boo and hiss, but an advantage to using a simpler connector is it can be repaired or a new one wired up using simpler tools. Said another way, USB-C with PD negotiation of not easy with only a soldering iron and a suitable 5V power source.
