Last year I purchased a computer monitor and discovered it uses an external power brick rather than accepting a standard power cord like all the other monitors. That does make it irritating to lug around so I tied the brick to the monitor stand. Thanks for helping, I'm looking for a case that has the power supply included. Meaning users can just plug in their 110/220V cable in the case directly to a socket.
It's okay if it's a rack mounted case.
Thanks for helping!!!
I've been planning to build a NAS using a Pi and for reliability want a setup that doesn't have too many wires going everywhere. Since I want 3.5" spinning disks, something like
https://www.amazon.com/Arcity-Switching ... 07X1LBK19/
would have the needed 12 and 5 volts. My idea is to build a custom case to house everything.
For 1000 units it's probably better to go with a factory produced case. I suspect price is also a consideration. Why use a Pi otherwise?
What is the hoped-for per-unit cost?
One approach is a bracket and backplate that allows a Pi 5 to be mounted in any standard PC case. Unfortunately, I don't know any place to buy such a bracket so it might have to be custom designed and manufactured. After that, one could install the Pi in a short 1U rack mount case and use the built in ATX power supply.
