Yes - - - I agree that it's easy to slag people off on the Internet, but I can't agree that it's more pernicious here. I'll base this claim on a recent post made on the libgpiod mailing list... the names are withheld to avoid embarrassment:

Firstly, I'll happily admit to writing that last section. But lets take a closer look, shall we....

You pulled that out of context and conveniently drop the trailing emoji, so you didn't even get the whole line. That could be considered pretty disingenuous and bad faith right there, no? The full quote is:

That is your view, and I don't care about your feelings .

My point there being that we should be looking at facts, not feelings.

Also read the whole thread, and others with him. That user was being, as the moderators here would say, antagonistic from the start. I had already called him on that, yet he persisted, so on occasion I would give him a jab as a reminder. He was also repeating his argument when this point has already been asked and answered, though clearly not to his satisfaction, and having to cover the same ground rapidly becomes tedious and any response less forgiving.

I've had several threads with that user and for the most part I think they have been productive. I could go pulling quotes to demonstrate that, but best to let the threads speak for themselves.
