General discussion • Re: RP2350 and Pico 2 released!

I would not underestimate the ingenuity of a post-grad student to figure out a way to defeat any code signing security measure.
Since you may possibly be in contact with such players, have you drawn their attention to Can you hack our new chip? - https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/can-yo ... -new-chip/
An analysis that finds a flaw or demonstrates the unlikeness of certain types of attack vectors might be a good project for a master's thesis. One could imagine a few chapters about history, background and alternative approaches along with an original analysis of the Pico 2 security, how it might be circumvented and practical tests of those ideas.

If an actual flaw were found, that could make a nice publication towards the goal of a doctoral degree. Depending on the depth I suspect more would be needed for an actual degree.

Unfortunately, I'm not qualified to supervise a doctoral student in computer security. Moreover, the chilling effects certain laws have had on cryptographic research make it an unattractive field to enter. However, there may be others here that would be interested. I'll keep it in mind.
