Thank you thagrol, and yes quite right, that link was to one without the USB adaptor, sorry.

Excellent to hear it may be possible to control the fan speed using one of the GPIO pins. I'm inferring from your post that it maybe be possible to both power the fan and control the speed from the GPIO pins avoiding the need for the USB socket entirely, that would be an ideal sitation absolutely, but none the less, being able to just run it from a USB port works for me to.

I ordered one of the fans anyway, so when it arrives I'll give it all a go and report back.
