I'm doing this with my pico solar.
The thing is that in sleep mode the current is around 2ma. This is why i'm using 2 little solar panels with a small lithium battery.
I never had problem with the power for two years .
Except last week when my tomato plant leaves start to hide solar to the cell.![;-)]( "Wink")
I just move it away and now it's working fine!
