No. They require about 5-10mA, and can be driven direct from a Pico output with a series resistor.I was reading on another thread that picos may have an issue with relays (i believe the context was electrical relays) because they don't have enough power to flip the states. Would SSRs types have this issue?I'd suggest SSRs (solid state relays); these have <1ms switching time, and provide electrical isolation. Drive them like an optocoupler. (Or you could use an optocoupler, but then you'll have to pay a bit more attention to the arcade M/C interface).Relays - could be too slow reacting, use transistors instead.
Devices such as PVT412, Broadcom ASSR-1228 (slow) and ASSR-1420 (fast).
(The problem with relays is that most require more current than a Pico output can handle, and usually a higher voltage as well. So you need a buffer to drive them).
