Guys,

A little box turned up today.

For info its slightly different from the image in both the App and and earlier images. Instead of the surface mounted buttons it has capacitive pads. It took me a while of firm prodding until I realised the buttons only required a light tap. There's also a very trim rear PCB cover holding the less trim battery box.

Its quite neat but I was hoping to repackage the thing simply to make it a bit more robust and clumsy old guy proof. The capactive buttons sort-of preclude relocating them as does the three AA cell battery box stuck on the back of the PCB cover.

Still getting my head around driving the thing. Think I've set it up OK using the App, it squirts a short audio squeek with coded time/location etc. Then its a just a question of tapping the correct button pad to set it going. Two buttons use voice confirmation and the third that readies it and then puts it to sleep until the surveillance window starts but would benefit from a voiced confirmation.

The newer Pico-W would open up a load of possiblities with a web interface and non-contact access to the recorded files but the IPR needed could well stall this. Overal I would have been happy to pay a little more for a better, more robust enclosure if only to make it bit more fumble proof.

So, a very cute bit of kit and now dangling out of one of my upstairs windows in the hope the little guys are out and about tonight but I'm not hopeful, weather's a bit grim.
