I've read that if

echo program_usb_boot_mode=1 | sudo tee -a /boot/firmware/config.txt

doesn't return 3020000a when inputting

Code:

vcgencmd otp_dump | grep 17:17:3020000a

then there's a hardware problem.

Is there anyway around this?
