I tried it on my Pi 5 with a SD 256GB card. The system is running from a 64GB SD PiOS installation. The 256GB SD card is inserted into a USB carrier.

SD Image copy works fine. But I decided to do a fresh install of Rasberry Pi OS. I ran it once for intitialization and then used a Debian installation to shrink the main partition to half to get ready to add Ubuntu Desktop 23.10.

You must use MultiBoot (mb -c) to do all partitioning operations.

Simply write Raspberry Pi OS to the 256 GB SD card in the usual way and confirm that it runs properly. Then, booted on the 64 GB SD card, use "mb -c" to resize the Raspberry Pi OS installation to the desired size. Then use "mb -c" to insert the Ubuntu installation. Then boot the 256 GB SD card and use mb (no -c) to switch between installations.
