Beginners • Why does Brave install on Ubuntu but not RPI OS?

I have a fairly newly acquired RPI5/8GB. I ran Ubuntu 23.x for a while, but realized that it really is resource intensive, so I've gone back to Raspberry Pi OS. All in all, though not as aesthetically pleasing as Ubuntu, it does the job well. My CPU is actually running substantially cooler.

There is one thing that seems odd to me. Pretty much every package I was using on Ubuntu I have installed on RPiOS with no problem. However, I was able to install Brave browser in Ubuntu and it ran fine. As a matter of fact, of the four browsers that I had installed (Brave, Chromium, Firefox and Midori) it was my favorite and seemed to be the best behaved.

If I try installing RPiOS, with SNAP, I get this:

error: snap "brave" is not available on stable for this architecture (armhf) but exists on other architectures (amd64, arm64).

Using apt-get, I get the following results:

As far as I can tell, I have no broken packages actually installed.

So, I can't understand why Brave would run on Ubuntu, but won't install on the same machine under Raspberry Pi OS. It's the same architecture. :?
