Off topic discussion • Looking to get back into RC flying, maybe with an electric-powered glider?

I'm a 64 year old semi-retired computer game designer. I've had an interest in aviation all my life and I flew both RC gliders and powered planes when I was younger. I prefer gliders because I find flying them very relaxing and I enjoy the challenge of keeping them in the air as long as possible.

I recently bought a DJI Mini 3 drone and, while it can produce amazing pictures and video, it doesn't offer the challenge and thrill of actually... well... *flying*. So I may return it and get a glider instead.

I saw a video a few years ago where a guy was flying a DLG glider and that looked like a blast! Unfortunately, those things are quite expensive and I'm not sure my knees could handle the spinning move you need to make at launch.

I'm thinking about getting an RC glider with electrical assist. I think it would be fun to search for thermals and see how long I can fly on a single charge! I'm not much into the building side of things, so I'm only considering RTF models. (Or "nearly ready to fly".)

So far I've got these models on my list (all around $200):

E-Flite Conscendo Evolution https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/co ... 01650.html

VolantexRC (Phoenix V2) https://www.amazon.com/XFLY-MODEL-Wings ... B0BXD5R27D

Dynam Hawksky (V2 Glider) https://www.dynamrc.com/products/hawksk ... 3704990017

Any other suggestions? What should I be looking for when it comes to transmitter, batteries, charger, and anything else I might need?
