Can you load the kernel from the SD card but place the root filesystem on the P1600X? Once the system is through booting everything will be running from the Optane in the end.I was going to just bump this thread:

Basically I have the same issue as presented there and was curious if there was any headway on this. I have a few extra P1600X optane drives and I'd love to boot my PiKVM switch off of it, but no luck so far. Maybe updating the bootloader would help?
