Yes I can write to the drive, eject, and the file is still there. And all the cards are good no issues.I suspect at least one of the sdcards is bad. You didn't respond to my requestUpdate: Ok so I have tried 4 different sd cards(8g 16g 2g 32g) with raspi os lite both 32x and 64x osmc and retro pie and still no luckEven better run an sdcard tester on your PC (search for h2testw for windows, or f3 for linux). Can you create a file on sdcard (e.g. from windows), eject it, insert it again, and check if file is there?
It's sounding like it must be the pi that has failed.
Surprising as some code has been read from sdcard, to enable the flashing LED error pattern, but (I believe) later stages of loading to increase sdcard clock speed and switch from 1-bit to 4-bit mode which may be where the issue lies.
But we really need to know how many *working* sdcards are failing to flash and boot, so confirming that would be useful.
