you most likely have screwed up permissions since you ran sudo.

system(root/sudo) & user have there own setup. the system is designed to work as user, sudo is for admin tasks.

pipewire is the front end for audio on bookworm.

your better off starting from scratch.
don't make system wide changes.
raspberry os(debian bookworm) wayland/wayfire is customized to rpi devices.
most tutorials out there are way out of date & have not kept up with current changes. base apps have changed, like you discovered pulse audio has been swapped to pipewire, the default on most linux systems now a days.

post the os your using (desktop/lite/32/64) &
your script your trying to run.


as said sudo is for admin tasks, your not running an administrative task.
