The monitor does work as I ran it from the HDMI port I use for my laptop second monitor and it worked perfect.

What were the cabling arrangements for that test? Which of the VGA or DVI inputs to the monitor did you test? How did you convert the connector type from the HDMI output from the laptop?

At the risk of antagonising other residents for a few minutes, is there any way you can test the RPi4 against a straightforward HDMI input on a standard TV, just for test purposes?

For my test I unplugged the monitor that's usually attached to this adapter https://www.walmart.com/ip/BENFEI-HDMI- ... /233141440
as my second display off my laptop and plugged the VGA cord from the experiment monitor in and it mirrored my laptop as once I unplugged my normally second monitor it reset to mirror of laptop screen. Then I went in and set the meno for dual screen and all that worked perfect.

Yes I have a HDMI ON MY TV I will try it on when I get home and see what comes up and report back 👍
