What is the model number of the DVD writer?I use the official PSU. Bookworm 64 bit standard install.What are you using to power your Pi5? Without the official PSU or a similar PD PSU that has a 5A@5V mode total current for USB devices will be restricted to 600mA. With the official PSU (or equivalent) the limit is 1.6A.
Maybe my KBD & Mouse are taking just enough to tip me over the edge when the DVD writer is running.
