Hi again, so I have had a go at this myself at home, in my not-very-well-controlled lighting. But I did turn off all the flickery lights and tried not to move! Anyway, I repeated the experiment for both the ov5647 and imx477.
Here's what I got for the ov5647: and for the imx477: So there is some very slight wiggle there, but broadly both of them look reasonable to me. That doesn't help answer the original question, except to say that I don't think there's anything fundamentally wrong. Perhaps we need to be checking the modules or the power supplies? (Though my Pi 5 runs on a Pi 4 power supply with no apparent issues.) It all remains a bit baffling to me!
