I did some more poking about online. Am I to understand that, on the 5, GPIO is known not to work? If so, is this going to get fixed? If it isn't, then I have an RPI 5 that's basically useless to me.
I'm searching for closure on this question. If it's not going to work, then it's time to move on.
I should probably move on anyway, I suppose. The thing is, the whole time I was waiting for the 5 so that I could consolidate operations onto one machine I never caught wind of an issue with GPIO. I knew there was a different chip handling I/O on the 5, but I did not realize all that that meant. As I re-read that, it sounds whiny. I'm not that upset, just surprised. But I do need to shift focus if there's a prolonged problem.
