Hi,
I am aiming to become a new Raspberry pi user. Although I am technically-minded, I have virtually no experience in hobbyist computing or construction. I am also not on the youthful end of the age spectrum (to put it mildly!) It is probably lazy of me to be asking this, because there is such a wealth of literature and information out there, but I'm after some candidate projects which (a) are good to get a newbie going, and (b) produce something that is actually practically useful. So I'm not really interested in flashing light toys and retro gaming consoles for example. Not that I'm belittling those things, and I do realise that I'll need to walk before I can run, but there just might be someone who has served their apprenticeship and has some good ideas! Cadging on people's experience I suppose.
Thanks.
Chris
